This leads us to still another departure from tradition: the broadcast of not one, but two new tones. Our previous favourite, Space Gray, has been replaced with two incredible new options: Black and the somewhat imaginatively named Jet Black. While the first choice has a similar modest, understated matte finish as the previous, the last option has a shiny finish that makes it a bit of a finger impression magnet.

Our survey units this year were a Black Apple iPhone7 Plus 128GB and a Jet Black iPhone 7. We spent our early days alternating between using the two as our primary phones until settling on the iPhone 7.

Back to the Jet Black finish, and fingerprints aren't the only thing it attracts - as Apple points out on its website, the new finish is more scratch-prone than others. We used the iPhone 7 with practically no insurance for the duration of our testing because we love the completion so much and have never been fans of cases, and we were unable to observe what was going on with the dispute for the overwhelming portion of this time.
